Whole-fish diets provide essential nutrients, but vitamin content and availability may vary depending on fish species, freezing, storage duration, and thawing procedures. Certain fish species contain thiaminase, an enzyme that breaks down Vitamin B1 (thiamine), making vitamin supplementation an important consideration in captive marine mammal nutrition.
